Somerset Innovation + Design (formally known as Somerset Design Enterprise Network) invites all creative’s in Somerset to one of our evening socials. So why not enjoy a good pint or ale and chin-wag with us and fellow industry movers and shakers.

There is no format and is a very informal way of sharing knowledge and getting  know a little more about what’s going on in Somerset. There is no fee to come and we mostly meet in pubs and any venue we can get our hands on. We sometimes announce a few interesting facts or opportunities. Read more

The sector generates approximately £400 million in output per year in the county and forms a growing part of Somerset’s economy. The creative economy also contributes to the vitality, identity and cultural development of the county. Read more

Part of the Product Innovation series of events, PI Apparel 2013 brings together the fashion and apparel industry to discuss the challenges and opportunities offered by modern technology for successful product development.

The two day event will consider the methods and tools available to harmonise design, development, and the global supply chain through a series of case studies and product showcases. Read more

The world of business is increasingly well-versed in the ability of design-led innovations to deliver competitive advantage through a focus on customers, differentiated products, services and ways of working. However the offer of design as a tool for public sector innovation is a route comparatively less well travelled. Read more

futurecities

The Technology Strategy Board is investing up to £5m in an SBRI competition to stimulate solutions in three areas, where UK cities face many of the same specific challenges: in energy, data and transportation.

There are two phases to the competition. In the first phase up to £1m is available, with contracts awarded to organisations to explore feasible solutions, and to develop proposals for prototyping and implementation. Successful organisations will attract a 100%-funded development contract, up to a maximum of £100,000. Read more
